Most of who we are, both physically and mentally is genetic. However, regardless of background, some people don't have to find success; success finds them! Why?

It is all in the subconscious mind! Almost all of who we are and what we do resides deep within our subconscious mind.

With the right subconscious mind set, 'will power' is as unnecessary as having to push a ball down a hill.

While we are children, our subconscious mind is being 'programmed' by the people and events that occur around us.  While it is mainly the adults in our world doing so - such as parents, teachers and other care givers - sometimes it's our peers, or it is simply our interpretations of what we see or what is said and done around us.

Sometimes we believe fallacy as fact, simply because we were told it by another child or because it was interpreted that way.

These 'facts' become the foundation of our belief system and do change with time, when other facts override them. For example, our interpretation of the world is to believe that it is flat - until we learn otherwise.

Later on in life, as adults, we absorb many other things both directly and indirectly. Sometimes it's for the better, sometimes not so.  Some things do change in our belief and understanding, some things do not.

Consider advertising and marketing. Every day we are bombarded by thousands of messages - billboards, taxis, buses, jingles, product placement in your favourite TV show or movie. It's everywhere, and it's all pervasive.  Yet, most of the time, we are not even aware of the thousands of messages we are receiving every day.

Inadvertently, our subconscious absorbs all sorts of messages, often filtering in beneath our awareness.  Companies do not spend hundreds of millions of dollars on a process that doesn't work. Ultimately, we all purchase the products, and the companies reap the profits.

Here is another thought.  When you make a conscious decision to have a drink of water, is it really a conscious decision? 

The answer is no. Today's thinking is that all conscious decisions ultimately come from your subconscious mind, i.e., your subconscious lets the conscious mind know that you are thirsty and require a drink of water.

(Or... you want another cigarette, or find something to do other than study or exercise...)

The current concept about thought is that the conscious mind never makes a conscious decision. What actually happens is that about half a second before that thought 'pops into your head,' the subconscious has already given the conscious mind 'a nudge.'

What the conscious mind has is the "power of veto," that is, to decide not to carry out that thought.

In other words, "No, I'll wait to have a drink of water, after the commercial break," or "No, I won't have that cigarette," or, "No, I won't do that, I will sit down and study."

However, the power of the subconscious mind becomes obvious when our sub-conscious is in harmony with our conscious desire.

In this case, the sense of effort or will power becomes irrelevant.  Imagine how much more powerful your life would be if everything is working together.

HOW CAN YOU CHANGE THE SUBCONSCIOUS MIND?

This is the power of hypnosis, self hypnosis and hypnotherapy.

Simply put, hypnosis is a state of altered consciousness, where the conscious critical mind is bypassed and direct communication with the subconscious can occur.

And sometimes you are in a trance state and not even aware of it. Some hypnotherapists believe people are in a form of hypnosis more often than not.

Have you ever daydreamed? Or have you ever been so involved in a movie that you haven't been aware of the screen??  Then you may have been in trance, a mild form of hypnosis.

Australian aborigines "point the bone" at their enemies.  Some time later the enemy dies. Modern civilization says you can't kill someone that way, that "It's all in the head." That is exactly the point!

And it happens every day in modern hospitals. Consider a doctor telling a patient with cancer he has 6 months to live. Some people accept it, and they do die. Some people don't and use that as a spur to live longer.

It has also been shown that a non-medically trained person wearing a white coat tells you, "You will get better, " and that person will have better results than a doctor who is not in a white coat saying the same thing! (Or patients can worsen because the specialist told them they would.)

There is a concept known as the placebo (or nocebo) effect. This is where people improve with a pill without any active ingredient. It is a known effect that has to be taken into account with all science-based studies on drugs.

Interestingly, when scientists have studied the placebo effect itself, large green (sugar) pills get better healing results than small white (sugar) pills.

It's simply the power of the mind!

Hypnosis and trance states happen more often than we are aware.

Driving to work - do you consciously remember using the turn indicator; walking home - do you recall pushing the button for the walk signal at the traffic lights; watching TV or movies - have you been so absorbed as to not be aware of the edge of the screen or the people around you?

In fact, the movies are a great case in point. How often have you cheered for the good guys or gotten weepy at the sad parts, jumped at the scary parts.... all you are really doing is just watching coloured lights on a screen (or in a box) and listening to pre-recorded dialogue by actors...

When you look at it dispassionately, it's quite amazing how our emotions can affect us just watching a fictional movie!

Therefore, assuming that we are in this trance more often than we realize, imagine what a little help and practice will do for you to achieve what you want to quickly and easily.

The reason you should do this is to let your will advise your subconscious of what you desire.  This state is similar to meditation or creative visualization being used more and more by sports people to visualize their success.

It has been shown that ten minutes of visualizing perfect practice is as effective as going out onto the field or court and doing it!

What you are doing is training your mind to give you what you want.

This is born out by science: When an MRI (brain scan) is taken of the brain while you 'experience' an orange, the same parts of the brain are activated as when you recall that experience. 

To your brain, there is no difference between doing/seeing it and remembering it!  Therefore, when you create a vision in your mind, the subconscious takes it as fact!

Hypnotherapy is utilising hypnosis as a therapy to literally change the way you think. It is a method of allowing the subconscious and conscious minds to be in harmony.

Ultimately, all hypnosis is self-hypnosis. Think of the hypnotherapist as your guide to helping you easily reach that state of altered awareness.

And, there is no loss of control; in every respect you are in charge. If you like the suggestion, you accept it, and the subconscious mind then takes it on board as fact. If you find a suggestion that conflicts with your moral or belief system, you will come straight out of the altered state of awareness.

Hypnotherapy can be used to assist in a variety of situations; in fact it can assist in almost everything you can imagine.
